Las principales categorías de los Premios Grammy cuentan entre sus nominados con artistas de Sony Music, con Beyoncé, Sia y Pharrel Williams entre los más destacados. Las estrellas de la compañía han sido distinguidas por sus trabajos en 2014 en un total de 28 categorías, entre ellas las de Grabación del Año (Chandelier, de Sia, y All about the bass, de Meghan Trainor) y Canción del Año (All about the bass, de Meghan Trainor, Chandelier, de Sia, y Take me to church, de Hozier.
La lista dada a conocer por la organización de los Premios Grammy, que se entregarán el 8 de febrero de 2015 en el Staples Center de Los Ángeles (California), incluye a otros muchos artistas de Sony, como Haim, John Legend, Miley Cirus, Jack White, Cage The Elephant, Usher, Chris Brown y Pink, entre muchos otros.
En la categoría de Mejor Interpretación Solista Pop están nominados John Legend por All of me (Live), Sia por Chandelier y Pharrell Williams por Happy (Live). Y en Mejor Interpretación de Dúo/Grupo, han logrado la distinción A Great Big World con Christina Aguilera por Say something y Katty Perri feat. Juicy J por Dark horse.
Barbara Streisand está nominada al Mejor Álbum Pop Vocal Tradicional (Partners) y Miley Cirus al Mejor Álbum Pop Vocal (Bangerz). Jack White, mientras, ha sido seleccionado en las categorías de Mejor Interpretación Rock, Mejor Canción Rock y Mejor Álbum de Música Alternativa con Lazaretto, categoría esta última en la que también fue nominado Cage The Elephant con Melophobia.
En Mejor Interpretación R&B figuran entre los seleccionados Beyoncé feat. Jay Z (Drunk in love), Chris Brown feat Usher & Rick Ross (New flame), Usher (Good kisser) y Jennifer Hudson feat. R. Kelly (It’s your world). Los tres primeros están también nominados a la Mejor Canción R&B.
Otra categoría con fuerte presencia de los artistas de Sony es la de Mejor Álbum de Música Contemporánea, donde fueron seleccionados Beyoncé (Beyoncé), Chris Brown (X), Mali Music (Mali is…) y Pharrel Williams (Girl). Entre otros muchos premios, las estrellas de la discográfica también competirán por el de Mejor Videoclip (DJ Snake & Lil Jon con Turn down for water, Sia con Chandelier y Pharrel Williams con Happy) y Mejor Película Musical (Beyoncé & Jay Z con On the run tour¸ Darlen Love, Merry Clayton, Lisa Fischer & Judith Hill con 20 feet from Stardom y Pink con The truth about love tour: Live from Meolbourne).
En el apartado latino, Camila opta al Mejor Álbum de Pop Latino con Elypse y Lila Downs, Niña Pastori y Soledad con Raíz. Calle 13, que triunfó en los Grammy Latinos, compite por el Mejor Álbum Latino Rock, Urbano o Alternativo con Multiviral, al que también opta ChocQuibTown con Behind the machine. Pepe Aguilar y Vicente Fernández están nominados al Mejor Álbum Regional Mexicano y Totó la Momposina (El asunto) y Carlos Vives (Más + Corazón Profundo) al Mejor Álbum Tropical Latino.
